Sharon Woods Inn: New England's Kosher Bed And Breakfast
Discover the beauty of New England this summer on a kosher vacation to the Sharon Woods Inn, a kosher bed and breakfast located in Sharon, Massachusetts. The tranquil atmosphere of the family-run Sharon Woods Inn is ideal for vacationing couples, families and business people looking for a place to stay for Shabbos or during the week. Sharon is also a convenient stop on your way to Cape Cod, Maine or New Hampshire. Your hosts provide exceptional accommodations, hospitality and service to ensure that you have a comfortable and memorable stay. As a guest, you are free either to enjoy the company of other guests in the main part of the house, or relax in the privacy of your own suite, which is accessible via a private entrance.

From the 1800s until the 1940s, Sharon served as a summer resort. Now, having evolved into a vibrant town with 18,000 people, Sharon's claim to fame remains its 400-acre Lake Massapoag near the town's center. The lake is a popular destination for swimming, fishing or relaxing on the beach. Sharon offers a traditionally rural atmosphere, yet it is only a 35-minute drive north to Boston, a city renowned for its historical and cultural offerings as well as educational institutions. For a hassle-free trip to and from Boston, the commuter train is located only a few minutes from the inn.

Downtown Boston offers an endless array of attractions. To learn about Boston's history and to explore this unique city, take a narrated trolley tour, or a famous "Boston Duck" land and water tour aboard a World War II amphibious vehicle. If you prefer the fresh air and sunshine of the ocean, harbor cruises showcase 200 years of Boston's waterfront history or take you on a whale watch. If you like traveling by foot, walk the Freedom Trail - a self-guiding walking tour of Revolutionary War sites throughout Boston - or take a Jewish walking tour. Bike riding is another option, as there are numerous bike trails in Boston, Brookline and Cambridge.

For the Boston tourist, visits to Faneuil Hall Marketplace, Fenway Park and Harvard Square are must-sees. A highlight for visitors of all ages is Boston's Public Garden, the oldest botanical garden in the United States, which offers leisurely cruises on its famous foot pedal-powered swan boats. Choose from a variety of world-class museums, including the Museum of Fine Arts, The Science Museum and The Boston Children's Museum. The city's numerous fine shops, art galleries and antique shops also offer ample opportunities for window shopping. Within a 30-minute radius of Sharon, there are also a large number of malls and outlet stores.

Travel 30 minutes south of Sharon to reach Providence, Rhode Island, one of New England's popular coastal towns. You may visit nearby Newport, RI, to walk along the sandy beaches or to tour the summer mansions built by the Vanderbilts and their acquaintances. Also located in Newport is the historic Touro Synagogue, the first-established synagogue in America.

After a hectic day of touring or shopping, guests return to the warm comforts of "home" at the Sharon Woods Inn. At Lake Massapoag they can sit and cool off, go swimming, or catch up with their reading, etc. On Wednesday evenings during the summer, live music is presented at the lake's bandstand. Also nearby are the scenic forests and alluring nature trails of Borderland State Park or the Massachusetts Audubon Moosehill Wildlife Sanctuary, a perfect spot for hiking and birdwatching.

If you prefer a more active vacation, bring your bike to ride around the lake, play tennis at local tennis courts, golf, or go kayaking or canoeing on the scenic Charles River. During the winter, skiing facilities are available less than 25 minutes away from the inn. Fall is another popular season in New England, particularly for its spectacular foliage.

There are a number of Orthodox synagogues within a short walking distance of Sharon Woods Inn, including Young Israel, Etz Chaim and Chabad-Lubavitch. New England is a wonderful place to celebrate Sukkos. At Sharon Woods Inn, a large succah is available.

Children are more than welcome and especially accommodated at the Inn. In addition to the Inn's large yard, a local playground features swings, slides, basketball courts and baseball fields. For guests with children who prefer to do some sightseeing without the kids, babysitting services can be arranged.

Breakfast includes an assortment of muffins, bagels, juice, fruit, cereal, coffee and tea. Shabbos meals are available and guests with special dietary needs, such as those with food allergies or on particular diets (vegetarian, diabetic) can be accommodated. In addition, Sharon Woods Inn can provide prepared food for departing guests who are continuing their trip.

For further details or to make a reservation, please call the inn at (781) 784-9401.
